I worked in the retail jewellery business for the past 27 years selling modern jewellery, and antique silver and jewellery, contemporary giftware, handmade, diamond and gem set jewellery.
Soaring retail rental expenses in the city centre coupled with customers frequently choosing to shop in suburban shopping centres and on the internet prompted me to sell my retail outlet. I decided to set up an online jewellery and antique business.
I have vast experience with sales and dealing with the public. At the November launch of our website, clients can put a face to the predominantly web based business, offer them the personal touch ensuring they get a warm welcome and discuss in-depth their specific jewellery requirements.
We offer a totally personal service, where after speaking with the client we can source loose stones world wide and design unique settings to complement these stones and reflect the client’s personality. Weddings are to be celebrated! And to compliment this sentiment we would offer the clients a very special, personal intimate service where they can design the wedding rings of their choice in a comfortable, relaxed environment. Bespoke pieces can be also designed and handmade for any special occasion. Letting the clients feel confident of a beautiful finished product.
Gold prices have risen enormously in recent times @ $935 and are predicted to go as high as $2,000, an ounce within twelve months. I feel that I will be offering my customers beautiful handmade jewellery and precious stones sourced from all over the world at affordable prices.
There is a huge market for antique silver and jewellery, and not enough outlets to accommodate this. I will provide the client with the background of the piece and confidence in what they select.
We specialise in antique silver and jewellery and I have a great knowledge of hallmarks and regal eras which determined the periods and styles in antique design. Irish provincial silver is most collectable and desirable and there are collectors worldwide. Through my website I will showcase my extensive collection to discerning world wide public. As a member of the Irish Antique Dealers Association, and former lecturer on antiques and fine art, I have access to a wealth of information and the benefit of access to colleagues with equal knowledge and experience in antiquities. I am fully qualified to carry out valuations for insurance and probate.
Interaction with my customer base would be two fold, the ‘One on One’ more personal contact I have spoken of already, and secondly ‘Customer Nights’ where I would meet my customers base in a more social atmosphere. These would be held throughout the year to showcase new designs and products on a regular basis. Hosting these events to coincide with the seasons and occasions of celebration through out the year, i.e., Spring, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas. These events being atmospheric and enjoyable rather than a pressured selling opportunity.
A website launch, inviting existing customers and welcoming new clients is planned for mid November, showing images of new and antique stock and information on the website and other essential details. This will give people a taste of the wonderful and unusual stock which we will carry and which could be purchased. There are so many wonderful craftsmen whose hand made products we stock and which will gain from the exposure to the world and new customers. We will have a very comprehensive wedding service to cover all the participants from the bride and bridesmaids to the mum, groom and best men. Special beautiful and handmade pearl jewellery for the bride and bridesmaids, gold and stone set for the mum and handmade cuff links and tie clips for the groom and best man. |
